Call to Action: Two Opportunities for Advocacy
Meeting and event professionals will have an opportunity to showcase the impact of business events by participating in Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), which will be held on April 12. A list of GMID events in North America and around the world is available here on the Meetings Mean Business Coalition (MMBC) website.
According to MMBC, more than 120 events across six continents were held during last year’s GMID. This year’s tagline for the event is “Real results, real impact, all around the world.”
Global Exhibitions Day will take place on June 6. According to UFI — the Global Association of the Exhibitions Industry, more than 40 industry associations in nearly 70 countries are supporting the advocacy effort by organizing events to educate the public as well as business and government leadership about the economic benefits of exhibitions.
Among the supporting associations, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) will hold its annual Exhibitions Day, a lobbying event in Washington, D.C., on June 5 and 6. The purpose of the lobbying effort is to brief members of Congress and their staffs on issues affecting U.S. tradeshows. Last year, more than 100 representatives of the exhibitions industry participated in the event.
